My next step: the latest fashionable dive for stingy people looking to live a great life without spending a penny. The Stingy Rats Social Club is located in a dark alleyway in the city, behind a black door covered with graffiti, under a small sliding skylight. I knock. The skylight opens. Someone asks me if I'm alone. I agree. "It's 30 euros per entrance!" I’m told by a deep voice. How could a stingy club have such an expensive entrance? Thinking it’s a test, I immediately reply: "30 euros? No way I am paying 30 euros!". The door opens... A giant weighing around 150 kg welcomes me, accompanied by a little guy weighing a third of his weight and with a curly moustache. "Welcome to the club!", says the moustache. Here I am, free of cost in the temple of rats. All around me, guys in cheap suits compete for slices of pâté and tapenade, with a glass of sparkling wine in their hand. One comes to offer me a real estate investment, another shows me his fake Rolex. Very quickly, I understand the deception: the customers of this stingy club pretend they’re multimillionaires to make up for their greed. An hypnotic game of Monopoly, where each player hides in lies, touching themselves to screenshots of supercars on Google Images, which they pretended to own. There were more rats per square meter here than in a street at Noailles at 3 a.m. It was funny for five minutes, but my next destination is awaiting me.
